The central idea of my sustained investigation is to convey the various generational differences between my grandmother and I. A question that guided my work was; how can I show how my grandmother thinks and feels about the changes throughout the years?

Some of my artwork portrays my grandmother as the central subject to convey the characteristics of being old; while the rest aims to depict the generational difference between my grandmother and I. These works depict the experiences and feelings of my grandmother, conveying her desires to stay within the old era, moreover, her fears of change. For example, images 2 and 4 portray my grandmother’s fear of new technology, which needs time to adjust to. I utilized the color yellow to symbolize this change. For image 4, I used the pop art style with strong colors to stand out the explosion which imagines the fear. Furthermore, because I lived with my grandmother, I had a chance to help using the computer in image 2 and phone in image 8 which is the first step to accept. Ultimately, through my sustained investigation, I hope to encourage the audience to protect and help the old generations accept change, as I depict in Images 3 and 5.
